We need a logo. As you can see by my attempt below, I suck at logos. I was thinking a play on the name Number Field Sieve, hence the field. Or numbers falling through a sieve? Or something entirely different? Post your ideas and, if you're artistically inclined, samples. Please make sure, though, that any included images are in the public domain or come with explicit permissions to use. Thanks!

How large should it be (width and height)?

Not too picky about the dimensions or aspect ratio, but let's say no more than 600px wide and 150px high.

Thank you Kevint! ;-)

Here comes my first design, just some 'number crunching'. *smiles*

And a favicon:

Next trial, this time I tried to pick up Gregs idea of a 'number field':

PS. Maybe I'll try a 3rd one where the numbers are 'growing' out of the field or so. ;-)

This is my idea probably needs simplifying for use in smaller sizes.

Thanks everyone for the ideas and great logos! All of them are much better than mine! Rebirther's idea is simple but sleek. I also like frederic's metaphor for splitting numbers into their factors represented by the split rock. And DaveG's "sieving" of numbers is good. I must say, though, that I like Cori's improved version of growing numbers best as well. Cori, can you do a favicon in this theme as well?
