Welcome back BOINC Pentathlon participants. NFS@Home has again been chosen this year for the Javelin Throw discipline starting May 9 at midnight UTC. Good luck to all! |

Hi Greg, I have 1964 pending validation on one of my hosts https://escatter11.fullerton.edu/nfs/results.php?hostid=7243524 and have been in that state for about 4.5 hours already. The second javelin throw will end on May 11 5pm/8pm PT/ET. I hope someone can help to clear up these pending tasks so that the points will be counted towards the second javelin throw. I hope they do clear up tomorrow morning automatically, otherwise will need to bother you or someone over the weekend. Anyway, thanks for hosting the Pentathlon again. P.S. This is the second time I'm seeing this during the last year Pentathlon https://escatter11.fullerton.edu/nfs/forum_thread.php?id=835&postid=2464#2464. Not sure what I did wrong. |

Greg will definitely help. He has been warned. As mentioned last year, any issues post it here so Greg can sort them out as quickly as possible. In case you want it to be private due to your team strategy let him know by DM or send me one and I will engage with him by other means. |

Nice work on handling the Pentathlon Javelin discipline. I think this is one of the most difficult disciplines for a project to handle and the NFS server did a pretty good job of it. Though I do have some questions that can possibly lead to some solutions. It's with my understanding the the overload was on the disk I/O. Meaning the CPU, RAM, Network and everything else wasn't the bottleneck. What is the disk(s) type and configuration for the server? Also what motherboard does the server use? Asking this, because I think the BOINC community can help with getting that part of the server upgraded to something that can handle such events such as NVMe SSDs. |

It's an ancient Dell PowerEdge with RAID6 on spinning SAS drives. It has served the project well for over a decade but it's long past time to move on. I'm currently working with campus IT to move the project into the university's modern VM infrastructure. |
