Description | Wait, what - s the next step
Wait, what's the next step?
The most important tool to study or complete homework for any subject is organization. If your assignment looks like a whirlwind of scribbles, erases, letters, numbers, and unknown heiroglyphs, your teacher/professor will never understand it to grade it. More importantly, though: You will never understand it either. Many times when I tutor, I find that the biggest problem my student has is not understanding the purpose to be neat. However, when I straighten out their words for them, or suggest that they rewrite a math problem every time something in it changes, they suddenly gain new insight. "Oh!" they say. "I was skipping a step the entire time! That's why my problems never turned out correctly!" Or maybe, "Well, I guess if I had been able to read the whole paper, I would have noticed that my sentences had the wrong verb tense." Even when assignments become more complicated and it seems like the most basic concepts are difficult, organization acts like a compass. You may not find your way out of rough waters quickly, and you may feel lost, but eventually it will guide you to the other side of the storm. If you don't use organize your work and your thoughts, though, you can quickly flounder. Enthusiastic & Organized Tutor in English, Math, and Test Prep
Blog Posts by Tiffany
|
