Hi all

I am pleased to announce that the chosen project for the #12 Formula BOINC Sprint is NFS@home.

The Sprint started at 9pm (UTC) today (28th July) and runs until 20:59 (UTC) on Sunday 31st July.

The only thing we can do is change the specs at NFS@Home preferences which I've already notified the admin to do so.

A year on and the NFS@Home Preferences section on the website still says this:

lasieved - app for RSALS subproject, uses less than 0.5 GB memory:
lasievee - work nearly always available, uses up to 0.5 GB memory:
lasievef - used for huge factorizations, uses up to 1 GB memory:
lasieve5f - used for huge factorizations, uses up to 1 GB memory:

I guess the admin is just too busy ensuring there is some available disk space ;-)

Hi,

I have only "allowed" the following tasks to run on one of my PC's (on Win XP):

lasieved - app for RSALS subproject, uses less than 0.5 GB memory: yes
lasievee - work nearly always available, uses up to 0.5 GB memory: yes

And yet I find that lasievee_1.08_windows_intelx86.exe is using 1,104,512K of RAM.

lasieved_1.08_windows_intelx86.exe is much better behaved using only 384,144k of RAM.

Anyone know why lasievee is operating "outside" it's quoted memory requirements?

Hi Greg,

Thanks for your reply.

I think the issue is with the BOINC code - as now that I have credits, I was able to join a team.

Before I had the credits, even though I was logged in, when I went to any teams page (in order to join it) at top right it had "log in".....so, clearly, before you have a specific number of credits, I would suggest that the BOINC server code doesn't recognise you as being logged in and hence the "Join this team" option, isn't available.

Now I have credits on this project, I've been able to join a team and all seems good.

FYI: I had the same issue with CAS@home and now I have credits on their project, so I've been able to join a team there as well.

Maybe there is a threshold that you have to attain, before you can join a team?
(But if that's the case, how come some people have zero credits and yet are members of a team ??)

Tim

Hi all,

I just joined this project and I find that when I log in and after I search for a team to join, it doesn't show the "Join team" option....

What is more puzzling is that to the right of the screen it shows the "log in" function, even though I am already logged in !!

It's not a credit issue, as I now have credit and still cannot join a team :-(

I guess this really is an admin issue....so can someone flag this up please?

regards from UK :-)

PS I have this EXACT same problem with the CAS@home project - see here:
