Hello

I've been having BSOD in Win10 running BOINC with NFS@Home on my new system (3 months old). Everything is up to date, drivers firmware and windows.
A few specs:
    MOBO - MSI X399 SLI PLUS
    CPU - AMD Threadripper 1920X;
    RAM - G.Skill 3200Mhz CL1416Gb ;
    SSD - WD Black M.2 NVME 256gb ;
    HDD - WD Blue 2Tb ;
    Graphics - AMD Vega 64;

I've run all possible tests(memtest86, AIDA64, prime95 ,SeaTools, HD Tune) to the SSD, HDD, RAM, CPU and none has returned errors. In the meantime, to try to pinpoint the problem, I've been running HwiNfo64 along side BOINC recording to a csv the system stats. Every time the system BSODs, normally after a few days, the pattern is the same. The RAM is maxed out, the virtual memory usage is above 70% and the system is reading the SSD at 100%. Another important detail is that it has been doing this for over 5 hours continuously. On the last run it was reading at 100% the SSD for 1 1/2 day before it crashed. I also noticed that the reported SSD life (SMART) is dropping at an alarming rate. In the last run of 4 days it fell from 89% to 86%.

I think the problem is that when NFS@Home uses all the RAM memory it then starts using the virtual memory (in this case the SSD). I've previously had a Ryzen 1700X with 16gb running NFS@home for over 10 months using ubuntu without any problems. So I'm guessing the problem either lies in the OS memory management (win10) or NHF@Home memory needs (or both). I'm currently running another test this time with the CPU usage limited to 16 cores. I will report here the findings.

Filipe

Filipe,
