Approximately how long will this project be in business? A month? Year? Decade? Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

My intention is a decade or two, but no promises... |

Now that'd be cool! A project running for such a very long time... almost "forever" in these days where many projects are coming and going quite too soon. ;-))) Grrrrrrrrreetings from the Lazy Cat... |

Though it won't be the only long one. CPDN - 6 years so far. Seti - 10. Distributed.net - longer still. No comment on how worthwhile some/all of them are, just on how long some [initially atandalone]boinc projects have been running. OT - is there a way of limiting how many WUs are run/how much RAM is used at a time? eg, 'I only want to run 2 simultaneous WUs/use 1GB RAM on this PC.' How I found a need for this is that I started it on an i7, and rather than sharing with the CPDN and MW already on there, it immediately started up 8 WUs and pretty soon 'windows is increasing the size of your swap file...'. Cheers, PeterV. |

Under Your Account, Account Preferences there's an option to limit the total memory usage and page file usage of BOINC to some percentage of your total. |

It is nice to find a project that is around for the long term and returns good credits that is not buggy. |
