On my Intel P4 D830, CentOS Linux 5.4 X86_64 (2.6.20 kernel)
After 1 1/2 minutes, I am receiving :

See this thread. You can install the 32-bit Linux version of BOINC if you like and use the 32-bit binary.

Will change to 32 bit Boinc and try that.
